Year 3 & 4

Welcome to Year 3 & 4

Meet the Staff

Mrs Catalano – Class Teacher

Mrs Harvey-Oates - Teaching Assistant

Our Class Saint

St. Charles Borromeo

Charles was a kind and caring man who loved God very much and spent his life helping others. He worked hard to make churches and schools better so that everyone could learn about their faith and grow closer to God. St. Charles was very brave, especially during times of sickness and trouble, and he never gave up on helping the poor and the sick. People admired his kindness and courage, and they followed his example of love and service.

His feast day is celebrated on November 4th, a special day when we remember all the good things he did                                        and thank God for his life.

R.E

Special Roles and Responsibilities – Our final unit will investigate the different tasks and responsibilities given to people in the Church.

JESUS: LIGHT OF THE WORLD AND BELOVED SON

In this unit the children study some important stories about the life of Jesus and the revelation of his presence in the world. They will also learn about some of the symbols of Baptism and their association with belonging to the Family of God.

Class Text

This half term we shall be exploring the classic text by Michael Morpurgo Why the Whales Came. Using this narrative we will continue to build upon our inference skills, whilst beginning to consider the author as communicating directly with the reader to convey ideas and make wider implications to the context in which the narrative is set.

Homework

Daily Maths and Literacy set each day

Two pieces of homework (Maths or English as well as one foundation subject) will be handed out on a Thursday and should be completed and handed in on the following Monday. This may be completed on Teams or within weekly homework books.

Spellings and Times tables are tested weekly. Times table tests will be integral this half term for the year 4s as we prepare for the times table check.
